GULF OF MAINE HUMPBACK WHALE SIGHTINGS (2012, alphabetical list)

We study and catalogue humpback whales across their Gulf of Maine feeding range. The research season begins in late March and continues through December. Below is a list of individual humpback whales that have been seen recently in the Gulf of Maine, through our own research or reports from our regional collaborators.

You can also learn about our Gulf of Maine Humpback Whale Catalog or download a photo-ID guide to many of the whales listed below.

We thank the following collaborators: Allied Whale, Bar Harbor Whale Watch, Blue Ocean Society, Brier Island Whale and Seabird Cruises, Captain John Boats, Cape Ann Whale Watch, Dolphin Fleet, Grand Manan Whale and Seabird Research Station, New England Coastal Wildlife Alliance, Quoddy Link Marine, Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society, Whale Center of New England and others.
