This curriculum was created to serve the elementary grades (5-6), middle school (7-8) and high school (9-12). It has been aligned to the Masschusetts Curriculum Frameworks for History and Social Science, and Science and Technology and Engineering.
The idea behind these curricular topics is to introduce the program options that are available aboard Spirit of Massachusetts within the timeframe of an eight-hour day sail. Collectively, they are intended to serve as a flexible basis for further curriculum development among educators at PCCS, OCF, and within interested school systems. There is room to redesign and adapt these themes to the goals and objectives of any school program.
